Lee, Ralph (5 July 1886 – 27 Aug. 1934)

A copy of the Redmond, Oregon, Spokesman of Aug. 30 reports the death of Ralph Lee in a veterans’ hospital in Portland, on Aug. 27.

Deceased, will be remembered by old friends here as “Hunky” Lee. The Spokesman give the following sketch of his life:

Lee, who was 48, was a veteran of the World War.

Since April 13, 1920, Lee had been mail carrier on Redmond rural route 1. He covered the territory on horseback when he first took the job.

Born in Neillsville, Wisconsin, on July 5, 1886, Lee came to Culver in 1912. Prior to the World War he served four years in the 12th U. S. Infantry in the Philippines. When the war broke out he re-enlisted in the same regiment and returned to the Philippines. The regiment was sent to Siberia and was there almost two years, part of the time guarding German prisoners. At one time Lee went to China with a part of the regiment on a special service. Lee has been an active member of the Ray Johnson Post.

Lee is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lillian Lee, his widow, and four step-children.
