Obit: Crocker, Katherine (1853 – 1934)
Surname: Crocker, Dillabo, Washburn, Zimmerman, Parsons, Longenecker Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 15 Nov. 1934 Crocker, Katherine (10 June 1853 – 13 Nov. 1934) Mrs. Katherine Crocker, one of Neillsville’s oldest residents, passed away at her home on Clay Street Tuesday, Nov. 13, aged 81 years, 6 months and 3 days. She had been in poor health for a long time, and unable to walk for a year previous to her death, requiring the constant care of nurses. Katherine Dillabo was born at Matilda, Canada, June 10, 1853. In 1855, when she was a small child the family moved to Wisconsin settling first in Garden Valley, Jackson County, moving to Black River Falls in 1870. She was married to Elliott E. Crocker of Neillsville, Oct. 29, 1879 coming here to live immediately after their marriage. They lived for a time on the north side, and in 1883, 51 years ago, they moved to the home where she lived continuously until her death. Her home was her chief delight. Caring little for social affairs, she took much pleasure in her flower garden, filled with a profusion of varied and beautiful flowers, added to which were many house plants. She was a devoted wife and mother, but was also a kindly neighbor, ready and willing to be of service in times of need. Mr. Crocker died October 1, 1925. In her declining years the mother was kindly and constantly cared for by her children who were all at her bedside when death came to relieve her from weakness and pain. She is survived by three children: Frank A. Crocker, Chicago; Helen, Mrs. R. B. Washburn, Augusta; Blanche, Mrs. Geo. F. Zimmerman, Neillsville. She leaves also 5 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. L. A. Parsons, Black River Falls; one brother, C. E. Dillabo, Red Bluff, Calif. The funeral will be held at Lowe’s Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.
