Ecke, Harland A. (27 AUG 1916 – 12 JUL 1999)

Spencer - Harland August Ecke, 82, Marshfield formerly of Spencer, died July 12, 1999 at Vesper.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Community Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Paul Nelson will officiate. burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman, Clark County.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home and again until service time on Thursday.

Harland was born Aug. 17, 1916 in Dodgeville, to Henry and Clara (nee Janning) Ecke. He attended school in Curtiss. Harland was an army veteran of World War II. He had received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Harland married Jeanette Kwasiborski on Jan 12, 1946. He worked for Boson construction in Marshfield from 1946 to 1953 when he moved to Chicago to work for Ensminger Construction until 1957. In 1957 he moved to Spencer and worked for Boson Inc. from 1957 to 1983 when he retired.

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. he served in the National Guard from 1946 to 1953 and from 1958 to 1963.

Harland is survived by his wife, Jeannette Ecke of Marshfield; his sons, Daniel (Diane) Ecke of Ontario, Wis., Louis (Carol) Ecke of Calumet City, Ill., David (JoAnn ) Ecke of Vesper and Les (Deb) Ecke of Marshfield; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Levi Ecke; and two sisters, Mildred Voss and Verna Dering.
