Raatz, Josephine (5 Feb. 1914 – 6 Aug. 1970)

Mrs. Frank (Josephine) Raatz, 56, of Rt. 1, Spencer, died on August 6, 1970, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield form complications of a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 8, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Loya. Rev. Conrad Mickelson officiated and burial took place in the Beaver Cemetery.

She was born on February 5, 1914, in Unity and received her education in the rural schools of Unity area. She was married to Frank Raatz in Unity on August 2, 1939, and farmed in the Unity-Spence area most of her life.

The former Josephine Stowe was a member of the United Methodist Church in Loyal.

She is survived by a daughter, Luella Raatz of Spencer, one sister Mrs. Clarence Braun of Rockford, Illinois; one brothers, Glen Stowe of Unity and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1958 and one sister.

Pallbearers for the funeral were Ulysses Cain, Delmar Peiper, Donald Wisknosky, Gary Scheel, Eugene Martin, and Ralph Gaetz.

The organist was Mrs. Delores Wolf and soloist was Mrs. Dorothy Prior. She sang “In the Garden,” and “Beyond the Sunset.”
