Surname: Burkhardt, Olson, Augustine Source: Scrap book one: by Elsa Lange Hardrath & Dorthaleen Edwards Hardrath Contributed by Halbert “Bud” Hardrath Burkhardt, Sophia (11 July 1889 – 28 April 1969) Thorp – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for Mrs. Sophia Burkhardt, 79, Thorp, who died Monday morning at Neillsville Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Robert Olson, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the East Cemetery. Friends may call at the Thorp Funeral Home beginning at 4 p.m. today. The former Sophia Augustine was born July 11, 1889, in Green Grove, and was married to Alfred Burkhardt, who preceded her in death. For the past five months she had made her home in the Memorial Nursing Home at Neillsville. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church and of its Ladies Aid. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ben Burkhardt, Thorp; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Ernst Augustine, St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by her son, Ben, on Dec. 23, 1968. *Death month & day was hand written in margin.
