Simenson, Doris E. (16 March 1932 – 3 Aug. 2005)

Today we celebrate the life of Doris E Simenson, age 73, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She went home to be with her Lord on Aug. 3, 2005.

Doris was born March 16, 1932 in Neillsville, daughter of the late Marie (Schroeder) Ott-Keller and Albert Ott. In 1950, she married Harold Potter, he preceded her in death in 1969. She then married James Simenson in 1970. Theirs was a union of love up until this day. They walked the road of life together. The blended a family into one and by their example, we learned what love is. Mom led her life by her deep faith and always one day at a time. She was a hard worker and loved to laugh, and to dance, to crochet and have as much family around as possible. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and continued them up until the end. She taught us that tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Jim; her children, David (Elie) Potter, of Carnation, WA; Daniel (Peggy) Potter, Sedona, AZ; Thomas (Nancy) Potter, of Waunakee; Timothy (Ann) Potter, of Appleton; Lisa (Doug) Meier, of Hatton, ND; Joy (Richard) Forrest, of New Richmond; Paul Simenson, of Wisconsin Rapids; Marilee (Pat) Watz, of Rhinelander; 22 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, three sisters and their families; and many special friends and relatives.

Preceding her in death was her first husband Harold; a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held Sunday August 7, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Appleton, with Rev. Mark Henke officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

A memorial fund is being established.

Her Puzzle Is Complete

For all whom she knew, She was an anchor: a rock. Her life was like a puzzle whose pieces interlocked. Now with all the pieces in place, Mom heads for home with a smile on her face. So we’ll carry a piece of her, with us, till in Heaven we meet. When we come together to make God’s puzzle complete.
