John Botey Kaudy was born Jan. 10, 1861 in Neosho, Wisconsin to Mathias and Mary (Botey) Kaudy. He moved with his parents to Colby, Clark County, Wisconsin in 1882 where his father owned and operated a fanning mill factory. March 24, 1886 he was united in marriage with Luella, the daughter of Theodore and Maryetta (Ransom) Brown in the village of Loyal. She was a native of Wrightstown, Wisconsin and was born June 15, 1868. There were three children born to this union: Edna Alice (Sischo) of Rapid River, Michigan, Lewis M. of Weston, Wisconsin and Ione Marie.

John Kaudy died August 12, 1920 and was buried next to his father in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Christie, Wis. Luella died February 6, 1927 at Ashland, Wisconsin and was buried in Neillsville, Clark Co., Wisconsin.

***The 1905 Wis. State Census lists John Kaudy as the head of household #17, Colby, WI. He was a white male, 44 yrs. old, who was born in WI to French natives. He was employed full time as a tinsmith. His wife, Luella was thirty-six years old and she was also born in WI. Her parents, however, were German. At that time, John and Luella were the parents of sixteen year old Edna, seven year old Louis, and a newborn daughter. Also living in their home was nineteen year old Mary Zaretzki who was born in German-Poland and was a servant to the Kaudy family.
