Surnames: KLEINSCHMIDT PRIEBE STEVENS COASH BYE Source: GREENWOOD GLEANER (Greenwood, Wis.) 06/07/1923 Kleinschmidt, Ludwig C. (9 OCT 1853 – 1 JUN 1923) L.C. Kleinschmidt passed away at his home in this city (Greenwood, Clark County, Wis.), last Friday, June 1st, 1923, after an illness of two weeks duration, the cause of his death being pneumonia. Deceased was born in Pommern, Germany, Oct. 9, 1853 and was therefore 69 years, 7 months and 22 days of age at the time of his death. He came to America when 16 years old. On June 2, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Priebe at Baraboo, Wis., she dying in 1898. Two children, a son and a daughter also preceded him in death. Mr. Kleinschmidt has made his home in this city for a number of years and was a man well-liked by all who knew him, and his circle of friends was a large one. The following children mourn his loss, Mrs. L.H. Stevens of Chicago; Mrs. J.E. Coash, Chicago; Mrs. Olaf Bye, Lily, S.D.; Mrs. Oscar Bye, Lily, S.D.; Ewald Kleinschmidt, Prairie du Sac, Wis., and J.E. Kleinschmidt, Cornell, Wis. Funeral services were held from the German Reformed Church Monday afternoon, Rev. O.J. Vriesen officiating, and the body laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery. Out of town relatives here to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Baumgarth, Mr. and Mrs. John Schellenberger and Charles Dallman of Prairie du Sac; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zimmerly and daughter Gertrude of Baraboo and Albert Kleinschmidt of North Freedom, Wis. |
