Obit: Dahnert, Alvina (1862 – 1920)
Surnames: DAHNERT SYMDON HEIKING WILKE FRANCOMB Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN & PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 05/13/1920 Dahnert, Alvina (24 APR 1862 – 10 MAY 1920) Mrs. Carl Dahnert died at her home in Neillsville Monday May 10, 1920. Several weeks ago she suffered a stroke of apoplexy and was apparently recovering, but a relapse occurred, which ended in death. Mrs. Dahnert, whose maiden name was Alvina Symdon, was born in Germany April 24, 1862. She came to this country with her parents and was married to Carl Dahnert Nov. 6, 1881. In 1884 they went to Stoughton, Wis., where Mr. Dahnert was employed for five years in a grist mill and then bought a farm in Dane County. In 1900 they sold out and moved to Clark County, Wis., purchasing a large farm in the town of Levis, which was their home until a little over a year ago, when they moved to Neillsville with view to retiring from active farm life. Mrs. Dahnert did a wonderful work in life, one of which her children may well be proud. She was a rare homemaker, a woman of intelligence that looked after the duties of the household with care and diligence, giving to all about her motherly love and attention. Although her home tasks were many, she was ever ready to do acts of neighborly kindness. It seems sad indeed to us mortal view that she might not have been spared longer the evening of life with those for whom she had toiled. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and nine children, six sons and three daughters, namely: Mrs. Wm. Heiking, Mrs. Arnold Wilke, Ethel, William, Charles, Albert, Herman, Bennie and Henry, all living in or near Neillsville. One daughter, Anna, Mrs. Frank Francomb, is deceased. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Reformed Church, of which deceased was a member, Rev. D. Grether officiating. |
