Obit: Ruddock, Lyman D. (1854 – 1921)
Surnames: RUDDOCK CHASE HEBBARD HAYWOOD SNITEMAN MINOR TAYLOR Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN & PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 01/13/1921 Ruddock, Lyman D. (6 JAN 1854 – 7 JAN 1921) This community was greatly shocked last Friday to learn that Lyman D. Ruddock had died very suddenly that morning, the cause of his death being heart disease. Mr. Ruddock was born in Pitcher, Chenango Co., N.Y., Jan. 6, 1854, being the son of Levi D. and Cynthia Minor Ruddock. When 11 years of age, he came west with the family to Berlin, Wis. There he grew to manhood and was married to Louise M. Chase. Thirty-eight years ago they came to Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., which was his home until his death. At an early age he learned the blacksmith trade, which he followed for 50 years. He was an expert in many lines of work, especially horse-shoeing. He took great pride in doing good work, and in feeling that no job was slighted. He had a quaint, dry humor in his talk and always stood for thing that were square and right. No man in Neillsville ever earned a more honest living than did Lyman D. Ruddock. He was a kind husband and father and in every respect a good citizen. He is survived by his wife, one son, Frank, who was with him in the shop work, and one daughter, Maude, at home. He leaves also five sisters: Mrs. Alice Hebbard of New York; Mrs. Francis Haywood of California; Mrs. Kathryn Sniteman, Neillsville; Miss Jennie Minor, New York; Mrs. Nellie Taylor, California. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. G.W. Longenecker officiating. |
