Mueller, Jacob (18 NOV 1860 – 20 JAN 1921)

Jacob Mueller, one of the older residents of this city (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.), was called suddenly by death, Thursday, Jan. 20th, 1921. He was apparently in his usual health, ate a hearty dinner and went over to John Marx’s to saw wood. John Marx Jr., noticed him fall and ran to his assistance, but got no reply when he spoke to the stricken man. He ran over and got Wm. Jacques and summoned Dr. Monk, who found that life was extinct, death resulting from heart failure.

Deceased was born at Ehrang, Rhine Province, Germany, Nov. 18, 1860, and he was therefore 66 years, 2 months and two days old, at his death. He came with his parents to America when seven years old, landing at New York City. Later they came to Bay View, Wis., where he grew to manhood. He was married to Elizabeth Justinger of Newburg. To them were born six children, five of who survive, Josephine dying about 7 years ago. His first wife died 19 years ago, Jan. 9, 1906. He was married to Mrs. Peter Marx, who survives him. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his death one son, Mathew Mueller of Madison; four daughters: Mrs. Geo Pettra of Levis, Mrs. Harry Evelyn of Milwaukee, Misses Helen and Theresa Mueller of Milwaukee; also four brothers and three sisters: Joseph of Neillsville, John of Oshkosh, Peter of Rice Lake, Anthony of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Robert Teatz of York, Mrs. Ed Pittsley and Mrs. Rose Dolan of Manitowoc.

Jacob Mueller was an honest, industrious man who lived a pious Christian life. He was considered very faithful by all who employed him, giving an honest day’s work for his wages. Such a man is a worthy example to the rising generation. He was a kind husband and father, and a worthy citizen in every way.

The funeral was held Monday forenoon at St. Mary’s Church, burial taking place in the Catholic Cemetery. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Mueller of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Evelyn and daughter Harriet of Milwaukee (the rest of my copy was cut off)
