Redmond, Henrietta W. (25 MAY 1841 – 13 MAY 1921)

Mrs. George K. Redmond died Friday afternoon, May 13, 1921, after a brief illness, at her home in this city, aged eighty years. Deceased, whose maiden name was Henrietta W. Savage, was born at North Anson, Maine, May 25, 1841. She came to Hudson, Wis., in the fall of 1865, and there engaged in school teaching. In May, 1866, she was married to geo. K. Redmond and moved to what is now the town of York, where they made a pioneer home and cleared up a farm. In 1888 they sold out and moved to Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., which has been their home ever since. After moving to Neillsville she taught school occasionally, and all her life took great interest in educational affairs. When the Women’s Relief Corps was organized here she became a charter member and was one of its chief workers ever since. For a number of year she has been the Patriotic Instructor of the Corps. She was a woman of rare public spirit and took an interest in everything that promised to be of good for the community or the nation. She is survived by her husband and three children, on daughter, Mrs. Eva Shew, and two sons, Leo I. and Walter E., both living in Racine, one son, Herbert G., died at Kalispell, Mont. She leaves also eight grandchildren.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the M.E. Church, Rev. W.T. Scott preaching the funeral sermon and the Eastern Star, of which deceased was a member, giving their ritual ceremony.
