Benedict, 81, Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died on Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Loyal United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wendell Williams officiated. Full military rites were accorded by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. Burial was in the York Center Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glen Bennett, Gene Hinker, Gerald Kobiske, Brad Zepplin, Bob Lulloff and Leroy Collinson. Morvin William Benedict was born on March 15, 1921, in the town of York, to William and Suzanne (nee Davis) Benedict. He attended the Lincoln School in the town of York. He married Marian Peterson on July 25, 1942, in York Center. He entered the U.S. Army later that year and served overseas during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he worked with his father on the farm and then at Quick Cleaners, Marshfield. He then worked as a janitor at the Loyal High School. He then worked as a janitor at Smith Feed Service, from where he retired in 2001. He and his wife moved to Neillsville after his retirement. He was a member of the Loyal American Legion Post #175 and the Loyal United Methodist Church. His interests included fishing and playing Santa Claus for area children for many years. Survivors include his wife, Marian Benedict, Neillsville; two sons, Kenneth (Pat) Benedict, Black River Falls, and Gary Benedict, Marshfield; one daughter, Sue (Emery) Gleason, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, David Benedict, in 1945; one daughter, Marie, in infancy; one brother, Nyle Benedict; and two sisters, Lula Kronberger and Neva Lulloff. Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements. |
