A MESSAGE FROM REV. DOERING (excerpt from "The Centennial History of the York Center United Methodist Church, 1880 - 1980).

Dear York Center friends,

Congratulations to you on the achievement of one hundred years of Methodism in the York Center Community. But, it is far more than denomination- alism, it's Jesus. So my word to you is: "Continue to learn of Jesus; continue to love Jesus; continue to live' Jesus!" As Philip P. Bliss wrote in his hymn: "Jet. the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave! Some poor fainting struggling seaman you may rescue you may save!" Yes, dear people, may you keep those lower lights of York Center burning and the lamps well trimmed. May the second one hundred years be more beautiful for the Lord Jesus thin the last one hundred years.

Peace and Joy in Jesus, Rev. Paul

Paul Doering came to us, as our new pastor, in June 1960, with his wife Sheila, son Donald, age 12, son Malcolm, age 10, and son David, age 2. We became very endeared to this family and they dearly loved all of us here at York Center and Loyal 'Rev. Doering loved people, and during those six years with us he captured many happy people and activities with his camera. And, he has, for this 100th anniversary celebration, lent us many beautiful pictures to be included in the souvenir book.

Rev. Doering was assigned to the Ladysmith United Methodist Charge in June 1966, and now serves the Boyeeville United Methodist Charge. Their children are now grown, Donald is a registered nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Nashville, Tennesee; Malcolm is a shoe repairman in Eau Claire, Wisconsin (First Street Shoe Shop); and David is a student at Marquette University, Milwaukee. Sheila teaches third and fourth grades in the Menomonie School System.
