Obit: Oldham, William (1865 – 1945)

Jan. 31, 1945 Oldham, William (9 Sept. 1865 – 26 Jan. 1945) Funeral services for William Oldham, aged 79 years, of the town of Pine Valley, were conducted Friday afternoon, January 26, at the Schiller-Terhune Funeral home, the Rev. G.W. Longenecker, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. Burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery. Mr. Oldham died on January 23, 1945, at his farm home, after an illness of about four years. Death was attributed to old age. William Oldham, son of Aaron and Sarah (Hardman) Oldham, was born in Canada, on September 9, 1865. When he was five years of age, he came with his parents to this country. He lived on a farm west of Neillsville, and had also worked in and around Neillsville as a mason. William first was married to Nellie Gill on November 10, 1888 and she died on September 11, 1897 of Pneumonia. The children born to that union were, Gertrude, Viola, Guy, and Jessie. On May 19, 1901, he was married at Neillsville to Emma Boll, who survives him. Thirteen children, were born to them, eight of them survive. There are twenty-one grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The surviving children are: Mrs. Viola Williams, Strum: Mrs. Gertrude Borgen, Milwaukee; Guy Oldham, Eau Claire; William Oldham, Jr. town of Weston; La Fayette Oldham in the armed forces; Charles Oldham of the town of Seif; Mrs. Genevieve Kalsow, town of Weston; and Ray Oldham at home. Three brothers also survive; Joseph Oldham of Clarkston, WA; Charles Oldham of Centralia, WA; and Alfred Oldham of Curtiss. His parents, two sisters and five children preceded him in death. The deceased children are Jesse, Daisy and Joseph, and two who died in infancy.
