Flaig, Anna M. (18 JUN 1811 – 23 DEC 1895)

Died, at the residence of her only son, Andrew, on Division St. (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), about half past one o’clock, Monday morning, Dec. 23rd, 1895, of heart failure, Mrs. Anna Maria Flaig, in the 85th year of her age.

Anna Maria Weisser was born in the province of Baden, Germany, June 18th, 1811; she was untied in marriage with Andreas Flaig, in Wuertenberg, Germany, in 1851; in 1855 they came to the United States and Wisconsin, settling in Sheboygan Co., where they resided until they came to Colby in 1877; her husband died Feb. 24th, 1879; at that time their only child, Andrew, came here and took charge of affairs, and moved his family her soon after and since that time the old lady has made her home in his family, with the exception of the time she made a visit back to Germany.

Her general health has always been good and continued so up to about ten days before her death, when she complained of having taken cold, but was not confined to her bed until Thursday, the 19th, and even then no serious alarm was felt until Saturday, when she began to grow rapidly worse until she passed peacefully away, like one dropping off to sleep.

Mrs. Flaig was a member of the Lutheran Church until the time of her husband’s death, at that time she withdrew from that church and became a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church, where the funeral occurs at one o’clock this afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. C. Hartenstein.

Mrs. Flaig was a kind old lady, had lived to a ripe old age and, besides the relatives, leaves many sorrowing friends.
