Potatoes are cheaper and more plentiful this year than ever before. The time for shipping in potatoes has gone by.

The next meeting of the W.C.T.N. will be held at the residence of Mrs. Parmenter, Tuesday, Oct. 16th, at 2 o'clock p.m.

Sol. F. Joseph, who announced himself as an independent candidate for sheriff some time ago, has withdrawn from the race.

P. F. Lautz and son W. A., of Longwood, were in the village on Monday last. THE COURIER acknowledges a pleasant call.

Hans Banderob, of the town, has been a great sufferer with rheumatism during the past four weeks and is still in a bad condition.

The genial countenance of "High" Palmer who has been logging in this vicinity for several winters, is sadly missed this fall by "the boys".

Preparations for active work in the woods are being made. The M. R. Logging company have sent two crews into the woods during the past week. Wm. Sharp, foreman of one crew goes to the head of the north fork of the Eau Claire river and Mike Denny and crew will spend their time in rolling logs into the south fork south of here. Both have new camps to build. Several other crews are expected to "go in" during the next ten days.

Chas. Archanbault lost a fine horse, valued at $150, last Sunday. Inflamation of the bowels is supposed to have been the cause. This makes a total of five lost by Mr. A., this summer.
