Jerome Gaylord Larson was born on March 5, 1932, in Independence, to Orville and LaVerne (nee Erickson) Larson. He was raised and received his elementary education in the Whitehall area. His family then moved to Eau Claire, where he completed his freshman year of high school. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1949, where he completed his high school education while in the military. He married Betty Hipsher on Feb. 10, 1950. They later divorced. He served in the U. S. Army, mostly in Europe and the Far East, until his honorable discharge in 1957. He returned to Wisconsin where he was a truck owner-operator for a few years. He married Leanne Vollrath on Sept. 30, 1957. They later divorced. In 1960 he bought a farm in the town of Warner, rural greenwood, which he farmed until 1991. He married Audrey Huegel in Neillsville on Jan. 12, 1979. He also worked as a pre-cast concrete salesman for Wieser Concrete, in Maiden Rock, for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. In 2003, he sold the farm and moved into the city of Greenwood. He served on the Clark County Board as supervisor for the town of Warner, and was a former member of the Greenwood American Legion. He had many interests, but especially loved hunting, fishing, dancing, traveling with his wife, Audrey, being involved with local politics and sitting on the front porch.
