Landino celebrates 100th birthday

Joe Landino, of Neillsville celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, October 1st, at Angelus Retirement Home. Friends and family came to celebrate with Joe. He has two daughters, four granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren.

Joe Landino was born in 1905 in upper state New York to Italian immigrant parents. He graduated from high school in 1923, and later graduated from New York Ranger School in Waunakena, N.Y. in 1927. He then moved to Brunswick, Canada and worked for International Paper Company until 1933. At that time, during the Depression, he moved to Wisconsin, and became employed as camp superintendent aat Civilian Conservation Corp. Camp in Park Falls.

In 1938, Joe Landino and his wife, Edith, moved to Eau Claire where Joe became employed with Sterling Pulp and Paper Company. He worked there until 1972, retiring as Vice President of Yard Operations. After Edith’s death in 1989, Joe moved to Neillsville in 1990, and has lived at Angelus Retirement Home since June 2004.
