Millard, Loren Ray (20 Dec. 1944 - 6 Jun 1968)

A Marshfield serviceman, Loren Ray Millard, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis P. (Bud) Felten, 317 W. McMillan St., has been killed in Vietnam, according to advice received here today, from the Navy Department.

Millard had been in Vietnam since Nov. 28, 1967 as a hospital corpsman, third class, assigned by the Navy to the Marine Division.

The announcement did no give the date of the casualty on the circumstances surrounding Millard’s death. Further details are expected to follow today’s preliminary report.

Loren Ray Millard was born Dec. 20, 1944, in Greenwood, and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School with the class of 1963. After graduation, he had been employed in the laboratory at the Marshfield Clinic.

He entered the Naval Reserve in 1965, and graduated from the U. S. Naval Hospital School in San Diego, Calif., on Nov. 10, 1966. He went into active duty in March, 1967, and since Nov. 28, 1967, had been in Vietnam with the 1st Platoon 3rd Marine division.

Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis P. (Bud) Felten, 317 W. McMillan St.; two brothers, Gary Millard, Marshfield; and Spec. 4 Lee Millard, U. S. Army serving in Germany; and his grandparents, Sigward Johnson, Loyal; and Mrs. V. Millard, Loyal.
