McCrorey, Laura Ellen (4 July 1862 – 16 Dec. 1934)

Mrs. J. V. McCrorey was born Laura Ellen Trans??, near Plattsburg, Mo., on July 4, 1862, and departed this life on Dec. 16, 1934, being 72 years, 5 months, and 12 days of age. She was one of a large family, and grew to womanhood on the farm where she was born.

Early in life she joined the Brethern Church and remained faithful to the end.

On Dec. 7, 1884, she was united in married to Joseph V. McCrorey, who survived her. To this union were born three children, all of whom also survive her, namely, Mrs. Beulah Norman of Neillsville, Basil V. of Neillsville, and Olin J. of Yuma, Ariz. The latter was unable to be present at the funeral. There are nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

She leaves also in Missouri four sisters and one brother, and one sister in Texas, besides a host of friends, both in Missouri and South Dakota.

Mr. and Mrs. McCrorey had traveled this life together for 50 years. The day of their anniversary was fitly remembered by the family, and wishes were received from relatives and friends.

Since 1912 she made her home near Belvedier, S. D., until this fall when her family moved on a farm near Neillsville. They were in the drought-stricken area of Dakota, and came here on Nov. 4, just six weeks before her death.

She was stricken with paralysis on Aug. 1, and suffered greatly to the end. She wanted to come to Wisconsin to be near good medical attention, and to be where her only daughter could help care for her, and she was very pleased to be here. She stood the trip well, and seemed to rally for a time, but later gradually grew weaker day by day, until death relieved her sufferings.

The funeral was held in the Congregational Church in Neillsville, Wm. Schiller, undertaker, having full charge of all arrangements. She was laid to rest in beautiful Neillsville Cemetery. Rev. G. W. Longenecker preached the sermon.

Mother, dear Mother, you are gone from us, but you will never be forgotten.
