Campbell, Helen (April 9, 1896-May 25, 1969)

Mrs. Ernest (Helen) Campbell, age 73, of Neillsville died Sunday noon, May 25, 1969, at Memorial Hospital.

Helen was born April 9, 1896, in River Falls, to Rueben and Stella (Brown) Wilson. She received her education there and came to Clark County at the age of 16 and made her home with the Theodore Brown family. She worked out until her marriage to Ernest Campbell on April 12, 1916 in Neillsville. They farmed in the Town of Weston until moving to the city in 1932.

Surviving is her husband, Ernest; a daughter, Florence (Robert) Anderegg of Germantown; three sons, George of Neillsville, Edward of Abilene, TX, and Gordon address unknown; three sisters, Mrs. Bell Bradesen Spokane, WA, Mabel Overley of Bremerton, WA, and Marie Nymann of Virginia, MN; and one brother George Wilson of Milwaukee; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Wilson-Heintz Post 2241 VFW Auxiliary and Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73 American Legion.

Funeral services were held May 28 from the Georgas Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Grether officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Ellis Wall sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “He Leadeth Me” accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott.

Pallbearers were Alvin and Paul Jacob, Leon Metcalf, Fred Haut, George Shaw and Ed Kroll.
