Frane, Leon (MAY 1902 – 21 AUG 1909)

Died, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph France, in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Saturday, aug. 21, 1909, of peritonitis, Leon, aged 7 years and 3 months.

The death of little Leon came as a severe shock to his parents, brothers and sisters, for he was dearly beloved by them, and also by the entire circle of his acquaintances. He was a little gentleman in every sense of the word and his early demise leaves a void that can never be filled. The family have the deepest sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. We canot understand why such things should be, we only know that they must be and always will be. As long as we dwell on this mortal sphere, there are always times when we are called upon to make a sacrifice and it is always the finest of the flock.

Leon was sick only four days, beginning Wednesday. He continued to grow worse until Saturday, when a consultation was held by Drs. Jensen, Doege and Johnston, and an operation seemed to be the only salvation. This was done in the afternoon, but the disease was of such a serious character that he survived the operation only three or four hours, and about 7 o’clock the little earthly light went out,a nd he passed into the great unknown.

The funeral was held at St. Mary’s Church, Tuesday forenoon, Rev. J.M. Schramm officiating, and was very largely attended. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery.
