Obit: Braecher, John (1860? – 1910)
Surnames: BRAECHER Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 02/03/1910 Braecher, John (1860? – 30 JAN 1910) John Braecher, who has been doing chores for Wenzel Fleischmann, at the City Bakery (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), since the middle of November, was found dead in the barn by Mr. Fleischmann at about 7:30 Sunday evening. Mr. Fleischmann notice light in the barn and stepping in saw the man lying in the stall by the horse, thinking that he was sleeping off a dose of barley juice, he called his baker to help pull him out, and in doing so they noticed blood on his head. A physician was immediately called and upon examination found that he was dead. The mayor and others were called and the body removed to the undertaking rooms of Lulloff Bros., where a further examination showed that the man had been killed by a kick from the horse, as two deep holes were found in his head, made by the calks of horse shoe. It is the supposition that he fell and the started the horse either kicked or stepped on him. Little is known here of the man, he being a stranger to most of us. He formerly lived at Spencer, where his father and mother died. He was for many years chore boy at the Jacobs House in Stevens Point, but of late has been working on a farm near Dorchester. His age was about 49 years. The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Church, Tuesday morning, and the remains interred in the Catholic Cemetery.
