Obit: Meier, Esther (1908 – 1911)
Surnames: MEIER Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 07/20/1911 Meier, Esther (APR 1908 – 14 JUL 1911) The home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Meier in the town of Hull, Marathon Co., Wis., is wrapped in sorrow. The Angel Death claimed their two oldest children, Esther, three years and three months old, on Friday, July 14, 1911, and Irene, four years, three months and twenty-two days old, on Saturday, July 15, 1911, of summer complaint. The youngest daughter, the only remaining child, was also at death’s door, but the attending physicians now pronounce her out of danger. Irene and Esther were bright, sunny-haired children of four and three years of age, loved by all who knew them. It is impossible for pen to describe the grief of the doubly bereaved parents, whose whole hearts seemed bound up in the lives of their little ones, and how utterly impossible it is at such a time to say anything to console or comfort the sorrow stricken parents and near relatives. The funeral obsequies were observed at Riverside Church, Monday, where Rev. Martin delivered a most touching discourse. When the two little caskets were brought into the church and place side by side, there was not a dry eye in the house. To say that the bereaved family has the sympathy of all, would be voicing the feelings of the entire community. The remains were brought to Colby Cemetery for interment, and were escorted by a large procession of relatives, neighbors and friends. The relatives from outside towns who were here to attend the funeral were: Mrs. Wm. Behrens of West Bend, Mrs. Gusta Wicker of Medford, and Wm. Eggebrecht of Marshfield.
