Obit: Laatch, Jean Ruth (1926 – 2006)

March 8, 2006 Laatch, Jean Ruth (April 11, 1926 - March 4, 2006) Jean Laatch, age 79, of Black River Falls, died Saturday, March 4, 2006. Jean Ruth Laatch was born on April 11, 1926, to Harry and Agnes Rayment, in Owen. Jean worked for many years at the IGA Market in Neillsville after having worked as an egg-candeler for some time. She married Francis Laatch July 27, 1944, in Menomonie. Jean and Francis owned and operated Clark Trophy in Neillsville for some years. She loved playing the organ for her family and friends, especially for her biggest fan, Francis, her husband. She and Francis traveled a lot, visiting Italy, Hawaii, Haiti, Mexico, New York and Los Angeles. She spent her later years as a resident of Parkside Assisted Living Home in Black River Falls. Surviving her are three children, Jim Laatch (Ray Romero) of Bloomington, MN, Judy (Wayne) Brown of Afton, MN, and Jerry Laatch (Lisa Jenni) of Black River Falls; two grandchildren, Kathy (Todd) Wilson of Stillwater, MN and Darren (Laura) Brown of Burnsville, MN; six great-grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Hoppe, Bret and Derek Wilson and Lindsey and Ryan Brown; two sisters, Hazel Eliason and Betty Klug, also many nieces and nephews. Preceding Jean in death was her husband, Francis; and siblings, Eldora, Ermie, Laura, Walter, Art, Thornton, Clifford and Bill. A Memorial service will be held for Jean at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Very Reverend Woodrow H Pace will officiate. Organist, Ronnie Resong, will be providing music along with St. Mary’s Choir. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Neillsville. Visitation time will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning before the service at the church. The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting Jean’s family with the arrangements.
