--------- Salzwedel, Henry (22 DEC 1878 – 21 APR 1936)

Henry Salzwedel, a life long resident of the Town of Beaver, died early Tuesday morning at the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where he was a patient only a few days with scarlet fever complicated by pneumonia.

Henry Salzwedel was born December 22, 1878 in Dodge County, Wisconsin. He was 58 years, 3 months and 23 days at the time of his death. At the age of six he came with his parents to Greenwood. He made his home on the farm in the Town of Beaver and followed the mason trade.

On March 18, 1936 he had an auction and retired from the farm and moved to the city of Marshfield to live. He lived there but a short time when he was called to the great beyond.

On April 12, 1899 he was married to Miss Helma Larson. To this union was born seven children. He is survived by his widow and his seven children which are Mrs., Elsie Brown, Mrs., George Gerl and Mrs. Lawrence Mess all of Marshfield; Mrs. Arthur Hendrickson of Greenwood; Ira Salzwedel, Willard; Mrs. Walter Johnson of Greenwood, and Lester at home. Fourteen grandchildren and three sisters also survive, namely Mrs. Herman Vandehey, Appleton; Mrs. Charles Cummings, Tomahawk, and Mrs. Otto Rossow of Loyal. His parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Salzwedel was a kind neighbor and loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by this community.

Private funeral services were conducted at the Baer-Lange-Rembs funeral home at Marshfield Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. C. A. Kipps officiating. Burial took place at the Hillside Cemetery at Marshfield.

Some of those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cummings of Tomahawk; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Vandehey of Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Hans Schmidt of Willard; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Salzwedel of Willard and Mrs. Edith Severson.
