Alexander, Allie (22 April 1879 – 5 April 1937)

Mrs. Milton Alexander, formerly a resident of this part of Wisconsin, died at her home in Jacksonville, Florida, April 5, 1937, after long years of invalidism.

Funeral services were held at the Main Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville, April 9, the pastor, Rev. H. Hansen, officiating.

The body accompanied by Mr. Alexander was brought back for burial here, brief services being held Monday afternoon, April 12, at Schiller’s Funeral Home and at the grave in the Neillsville cemetery, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating.

Allie Bullis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Bullis, was born at Augusta, Wisconsin, April 22, 1879. She spent her early years there, at Merrillan and Eau Claire, finishing her school education in the latter city.

In January 1909, she was united in marriage at Eau Claire, with Milton Alexander of Chicago, formerly of Neillsville. They began housekeeping in Chicago, later moving to Omaha, and in 1918 moving to Jacksonville, Florida, where they continued to make their home.

In October, 1914, after a period of ill health, she became confined to her bed, and has not been able to walk since that date. For a time Mr. Alexander’s sister, Miss Jennie Alexander assisted in caring for her, but she also became an invalid; Mr. Milton’s mother, now aged 89, has also been a member of the family for several years, and for some time was confined to bed by an accident. For a number of years past, Mrs. Kate Stockwell a sister of Mr. Alexander has been in charge of the home and helped him care for his invalid wife and the others of the household.

During these years the keenest sympathy has been felt for the members of this home by their old friends here, and with it a fine admiration for the patience and fortitude all have shown.

Beside the husband and his relatives, deceased leaves one sister, Mrs. J. J. Smiley of San Diego, California.
