Drescher, Vernon Daniel (11 July 1932 – 26 May 2006)

NEILLSVILLE -- Vernon Daniel Drescher, 73, of Neillsville, died May 26, 2006, at the Continuous Care Center in Tulsa, Okla.

A memorial service is planned for June 12, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Neillsville. The Moore Funeral Home in Tulsa is assisting with arrangements and has created an electronic memorial Web page where you can view pictures and post comments, if you like. The Web site address is www.moorefuneral.com. Click on the Ultimate Tributes heading, select the "D's" and look for Vernon's name.

Vernon was born July 11, 1932, in Neillsville, the son of the late Daniel and Laura (Lichte) Drescher. Except when away at the National Guard, Vernon lived the majority of his life less than a mile from where he was born. He married Kay Bills on July 14, 1956, and they raised most of their six children on the dairy farm they owned for 25-plus years.

In retirement, Vernon was an active member of the United Methodist Church. He thoroughly enjoyed his involvement with the Deutcher Klub, Clark County Men's Chorus, the Granton and Chili Senior Citizens and loved traveling to see new places with companion, Rochelle Tichy. Vernon was also proud of his work as a volunteer with the Chippewa Valley Technical College's "A Page Forward" adult literacy program.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Drescher.

He is survived by his loving children, Allen (Shorty) Drescher and daughter-in-law, Renee of Granton; Susan Drescher and Don Synstelien of Atlanta, Ga.; Bonnie Drescher of Amherst Junction; Brian Drescher, Jeffrey Drescher and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, Jennifer Weiser and son-in-law Erick, all of Tulsa; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Lezotte and brother-in-law Virgil and family of Merrill; sister-in-law, Charlotte Drescher and family of Neillsville; companion Rochelle Tichy of Granton; ex-wife Kay Drescher of Tulsa; and a host of loved ones.

Service arrangements are being made by the family.
