Obituary of Mabel Bishop

Mabel Bishop, daughter of the late George and Ella Allds Bishop, was born November 10, 1884 at Necedah and came with her parents to this community as a child. Here she attended school and graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of 1902. She also attended schools in the East and for many years was a music teacher here. She was also responsible for the starting of the Greenwood's Womens Club and during her years here also sponsored a Music week concert. After the death of her parents she resided in the West and later at Wausau and Marshfield. She has been a patient at the Wood County Hospital of Marshfield since 1951. Mabel passed away at the hospital at 10 pm on Wednesday October 18, 1961 of old age complications and pneumonia. The body was held at the Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, until Saturday morning, October 21, when it was brought to Greenwood, where services were held at Grace Methodist Church at 10:30 AM. Rev. Gene Carlson, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood cemetery beside her parents. The pallbearers were Raymond Shaw, Marshfield; Everett Shaw, Neillsville; Leo Stanley, Harry Stafford, Hugh Christie, and Ted Braun, Greenwood. Mabel was a member of the local Easter Star chapter. She is survived by cousins Dr. Hal Allds, Chicago; Mrs. (Leona) (Allds) Rifelman, Rhinelander; and Mrs. Ellis Allds, Wausau.
