Obit: Kimball, Gertrude (1881 – 1937)
Surname: Kimball, Davis Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) 4 Nov. 1937 Kimball, Gertrude (17 Aug. 1881 – 28 Oct. 1937) Gertrude Kimball was born August 17, 1881, near Neillsville and passed away Oct. 28, 1937, at Minneapolis, Minn. She was the youngest of five children born to Phoebe and James A. Kimball. After the death of Mrs. Kimball in 1886, the family moved to Neillsville, where Gertrude attended school. She was graduated from Neillsville High School in 1900 and later from the *Milwaukee [*This name was blurred, so it could be wrong.] Normal. She taught kindergarten at Appleton, Merrill and Crandon. Several years later she took a secretarial course at a business college in St. Paul and from that time until a few years prior to her death, she was engaged in secretarial work in St. Paul and Minneapolis. In 1917 she was employed for a few months in the office of the Connon Lumber Co. at Marshfield. Preceding her in death were her mother, father, step-mother, one sister, Ada Kimball Davis, two brothers, Elmer A. and Edwin C., and two nieces, Chloe and Clara Kimball. She is survived by her sister, Emma; a niece, Mrs. Gertrude Davis Kimball; and by two nephews, Lawrence Davis and Lloyd Kimball. She was a member of Third Church of Christ, Scientist, at Minneapolis and of Carmi Chapter No. 60 Order of Eastern Start at Neillsville since 1908. Christian Science services were held Saturday afternoon at the Oakley Funeral Home in Minneapolis, and the body was brought to Neillsville for burial in the family lot. Funeral rites were conducted from the Masonic Temple Sunday at one o’clock by the Eastern Star Chapter. “We really cannot think of her as being far away, her love we trust is with us still, unfailing day by day – For God is love, and we but fell Our Father would not part. That which He has planted in the soul which binds us heart to heart.” |
