Surnames: LIVINGSTON TURNER NICHOL STURDEVANT HALLOCK HUYCK BENEDICT WHITCOMB BART Source: Republican and Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 12/04/1890 WILCOX The young people of the Center gave Miss Ella Livingston a surprise party at William Turner’s Wednesday evening, the 26th, and report a good time. Ella left the next day for Longwood, where she is going to teach school this winter. Quite a number of the people of York and some from Neillsville met at Mr. and Mrs. Langdon Nichol’s on Thanksgiving Day to celebrate their 15th anniversary wedding and help them eat turkey. They had a splendid time. Forty-one guests took dinner with them. There were quite a number of presents given. May they live to enjoy a number of anniversaries is the wish of all present. School began in District No. 2, December 1st, Miss Mamie Sturdevant, of Pine Valley, is the teacher. Also school began in District No. 3, Miss Bertha Hallock, of the Windfall, teacher. Mr. Robert Huyck, of Humbird, was over to the Center store one day lat week, looking as hale and hearty as when he was a resident of our town. C.H. Benedict, who had an attack of la grippe, has returned to his work in Loyal, cooking for L. Whitcomb and Jene Bart. Quite a number of children in York are having the measles. All are reported doing well. B.A. |
