Report has it that the firm of Rowe and Lawrence, general merchants, are about to dissolve: E.M. Rowe will retain the store here. Mr. Lawrence will go to Maple Works and start a store there.

The M.E. Sunday School is preparing for a concert the eve of the 23rd of August.

It is expected that Rev. Josia Phillips, district lecturer of I.O.G.T. will talk temperance to the people of York Center Thursday evening, the 20th, and a general invitation is extended to all.

Died, at York Center, August 10th, in her 51st year, of heart failure, Catherine, wife of Philip P. Howard. Deceased has been in poor health for several years, and did not appear to be any worse upon retiring. Mr. Howard awoke about 4 o’clock in the morning and found his wife not in bed. He went down stairs and found her lying dead upon the floor. She was lying as though she was about to ascend the stairs. She leaves a husband, son and daughter to mourn her loss. The funeral was held at York Center M.E. Church, Rev. Jas. Connors officiating. Her remains were taken to the Neillsville Cemetery and placed by the side of her two daughters, who had passed on before.
