Ide, our Chairman, has gone up to Oneida County to spend the winter. Will Turner has gone into camp in the Town of Loyal, to work for Jim Reddan. John Corzette has moved up to Loyal for the winter, where he has a job of work. George Root has gone to Fond du Lac County, his old home, to visit his parents and other friends. Sylvester Pease, Sr. and wife, came up from Tomah last week, where they have been spending the summer. School began in District No. 1 last week, Mrs. Ella Lindsley, teacher. Mrs. Wm. Garvin is on the sick list this week. The doctor from Lynn was called Sunday. A daughter of Mr. Fisher, who resides on S.A. Wilcox’s farm, was brought home sick, from Neillsville, last week. About thirty-five helped E.M. Rowe, our merchant, eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day, and report having had a splendid time. Mrs. Rowe knows just how to cook turkey. About four o’clock p.m. last Thursday, the house of J.J. Rowe, Jr., which was occupied by W.F. Bolton, was discovered to be on fire. The family was absent at the time, and before anyone got there, the fire had got such head way that they could not save a thing. They lost everything but what they had on. The insurance had run out about two weeks before. Mr. Bolton had his goods insured in the Lynn Insurance Company for $240. REPORTER |
