News: York (1892/2/18)
Surnames: CAMPBELL CORZETT GILMAN MORTIMER TURNER Source: Republican and Press (Neillsville, Wis.) 02/18/1892 WILCOX The evening of the 10th the ladies of the York Center lodge gave a leap year party at the hall, and had a splendid time. Some of the boys wish it would be leap year all the time. Charles Campbell has gone to Loyal to haul logs for J. Corzett. Everybody is trying hard to improve the time while the snow lasts. Mrs. William Gillman and children, from the city, came up the latter part of last week, to visit William Mortimer’s family. They returned home Sunday. Died – Turner – Thursday, February 11th, 1892, in the 85th year of his age, Abel Turner. He was one of the first to settle in the central part of the Town of York. He was elected supervisor of the town when it was first set off from the Town of Weston. He leaves quite a large family, mostly all grown up, and all but one living in this town. The funeral, which was held at the church, was very largely attended. REPORTER |
