Beardsley, Delia Bethia (10 Nov. 1876 – 9 Feb. 1938)

Miss Delia Bethia Beardsley was born to George L. and Eveline Priscilla Beardsley in Monroe County, Wisconsin, her last birthday anniversary occurring on Nov. 10. When a child, her parents moved to Clark County, and here Miss Delia attended school and grew to young womanhood.

She learned the millinery trade and worked at this art in Chicago and in Neillsville, operating her own store in this city at one time. Later when the fashioning and decorating of women’s hats was no longer in vogue, Miss Beardsley fitted herself for office wore, and also worked as a saleslady for a number of years, choosing to remain in this city to be with her aged mother.

Miss Beardsley was quiet and ladylike in manner. She loved to read and discuss literature with her group of steadfast friends. Her words of praise were many and her complaints few and even during the last few weeks before she was forced to remain in her home, her relatives and close friends had no realization of the nearness of her departure, which occurred on Feb. 9, at 7:45 in the evening.

One brother and four sisters survive; A. J. Beardsley, Everett, Wash.; Mrs. Millard Parker, Grand Rapids, Minn.; Mrs. W. J. Eilert, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. J. L. Neverman, and Mrs. Wm. Huntley, Neillsville. There are also three nieces and seven nephews.

Services were conducted Saturday at the Lowe home on South Clay street, Rev. E. P. Stone officiating. Out-of-town relatives and friends here for the rites were: Mrs. L. Schalle, Miss Lottie Schalle, Mr. and Mrs. A. Henry and Mrs. Bert Fuller, all of Tomah, Wis.; Miss Jane Huntley, Madison; Miss Mary Neverman, Winona, Minn., and Miss Nan Lowe, Milwaukee.
