Obit: Salter, Carrie (1866 – 1941)
Surnames: SALTER PURDY RENSIMER STEVENSON Source: The Bee – Price Co. Section (Prentice, Wis.) 07/17/1941 --------- Salter, Carrie (17 JUN 1866 – 10 JUL 1941) Relatives and friends were greatly grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. F.J. Salter of Prentice, who was called to eternal rest Thursday morning July 10th at 2:00 o’clock. Her passing occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. K. Purdy, at West Hollywood, Calif., after an illness of one week. Her demise was caused from complications following an operation, which she had undergone last year. Mrs. Salter, whose maiden name was Carrie Rensimer, was born at Pardeeville, Wis., on June 17, 1866 and had attained the advanced age of 75 years and 23 days at the time of her passing. She was united in marriage with F.J. Salter on October 5, 1885 at Unity, Wis., and to this union were born four children, all of whom survive their mother. Mrs. Salter had made her home at Prentice for over half a century and had made a large circle of friends in this community. She was a member of the First Congregational Church here, its Ladies’ Aid Society, and the Rebekah Lodge. Miss Lucille Stevenson of West Hollywood, Calif., accompanied the remains back to Prentice, while Misses Pearl and Gladys Salter, who had also been visiting with their sister in West Hollywood, returned home by car. Funeral services were conducted at the First Congregational Church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Fred Dahlberg, pastor of the church. Interment was made in the Prentice Cemetery. Surviving immediate relatives are three daughters, Mrs. K. Purdy of West Hollywood, Calif., Misses Pearl and Gladys Salter of Prentice; one son, Russell, of Manila, Philippine Islands; and one brother, Corbin Resnimer, of Santa Barbara, Calif. Mr. Salter preceded his life partner in death, passing away several years ago. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved relatives in their great sorrow. |
