Obit: Salter, Frank J. (1857 – 1938)
Surnames: SALTER RENSIMER PURDY HARRIS Source: The Bee – Price Co. Section (Prentice, Wis.) 07/28/1938 --------- Salter, Frank J. (17 MAR 1857 – 27 JUL 1938) Frank J. Salter, prominent and early resident of the Village of Prentice, passed away at his home there Wednesday morning at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 7 days. His death was caused from a complication of diseases which had impaired his health for several years. Born in Jackson, Wis., March 17, 1857, he came to Prentice 47 years ago to open a drug store and follow his chosen profession, remaining in this business for many years. He always took a prominent part in the public life of Prentice and served in many capacities. He held several school and village offices and also served the village as postmaster. He was always very active in the advancement of education and spent much time in furthering this work. He has been a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Prentice for many eyars and was always active in the work of this organization. On Oct. 5, 1885, he was married to Carrie Rensimer at Unity, Wis., and in 1935 they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary. Funeral services are to be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home and at 2:30 at the Congregational Church of Prentice. Interment will be made in the Prentice Cemetery. Those who survive him include his widow, three daughters, Misses Pearl and Gladys Salter, Prentice; Mrs. Kyle Purdy, Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Russell, who is now located at Bauio, Philippine Islands. There are also two brothers, Tom and M.D. Salter of West Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Harris of St. Paul, Minn. Through his many official offices Mr. Salter became well known throughout Price County and his death is mourned by a large circle of friends. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to the relatives. |
