History: Hewett Bar Battles (18 Jul 1895)
Source: The Phonograph, Colby, Clark Co., Wisconsin. July 18, 1895, Page 4 Column 2 [Times--Marshfield]: Hewitt was the scene of lively times on the 4th. It is said that no less than fourteen fights took place on that day, the most serious of which occurred between Frank Kautzer, James Markee and Andrew Stroeveller and in which the last named was beat over the head with a beer glass. They were brought here Friday but before going to trial the case was settled by Kautzer and Markee paying $40.60, in settlement for damage and costs. |
