--------- Namitz, Charlotte, (1860 – 12 OCT 1936)

Mrs. Charlotte Namitz, 76, resident of Newberg for 26 years, died here Monday. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Friends church with Reverend Carl Miller conducting the last rites. Burial was in the Friends cemetery.

Survivors are the husband, Fred Namitz; three sons, Earl of Newberg, Henry of Portland and Vernon of Medford; and two daughters, Mrs. E. M. Heacock of Portland and Miss Allie Namitz of Newberg. A third daughter, Mrs. J. M. Stafford, preceded her mother in death by two years. A sister, Mrs. Mary Honeywell, of this city, also survives, as do 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family came here from Wisconsin in 1906 and have resided here continually since that time. A friend of the family pays this tribute to the deceased: “She was a hard working faithful wife and mother. Her sense of humor was always present and even during her last illness when suffering was intense she frequently joked with her children and those who tended her. Her list of friends consisted of all who had ever known her.”

Mrs. Namitz was an aunt of Mrs. Will Syth, and lived on a farm 4 miles south of Loyal, now owned by Frank Dux, before moving to Oregon.
