-----Maier Descendants Gather for Reunion

Descendants of John and Helen Maier gathered at Thorp City Park for their 11th annual reunion on Saturday, July 22, 2006. Hosting the reunion this year was the Marge Sonnentag family. Time was taken to reflect on departed family members and remembered fondly, was the most recently deceased member, Ed Maier. Great-grandson, Elijah Grajkowski, played “Taps” to honor the departed military veterans of the family.

An abundance of food including German favorites was enjoyed. Bratwurst were grilled and served, thanks to members of the Ed Maier family. Printed family history updates were provided by Peggy Maier. Games and prized for the children, horseshoes, vintage music and “Maier Memories” trivia completed the afternoon entertainment.

Those attending traveled from Indiana, Milwaukee, Brookfield, New Berlin, Brown Deer, Portage, Eau Claire, Fall Creek, Greenwood, Stanley, Ellsworth and Thorp. The next reunion will be held at Thorp in July, 2007.
