Martin Theodore Richelieu was born at Black River Falls, Wisconsin, July 24, 1864.

While still a small boy he moved with his parents to a farm one mile west of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), where he spent most of his early years.

In 1897, he was united in marriage to Ida Steele of Thorp. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Walter Acker of Greenwood, Mrs. Arno Vater, Withee, whom together with an adopted daughter, Mrs. Felix Adams of Milwaukee, survive.

About ten years ago Mr. Richelieu moved his family from Greenwood to a farm four miles east of Owen,, and later also was sold, after purchasing a home at Abbotsford, where he lived until the time of his death.

In earlier years he had much to do with the logging industry. At this time Owen was only a landmark.

He was a man who could find friends and acquaintances wherever he went, and due to his kindliness and lovely disposition was loved by all. It can truly be said of him that he was a man who had no enemy.

During the last two years or as long as his failing health would allow, Mr. Richelieu was employed at the Master Package Company of Owen. While there he won the respect of all of his fellow employees.

Three weeks ago he was taken to the Marshfield Hospital where it was found that an abdominal operation was the only thing which could save his life.

Due to the seriousness of the operation, five blood transfusions were resorted to. Everything which medical science could do was done and it was thought for a time that he would recover. But the operation proved more than he could stand and Wednesday at noon, just one week after the operation, he passed away.

Funeral services were held Friday from Baer-Larye-Rembs Funeral Home at Marshfield, Rev. W.P. Powell of Owen officiating. The body was taken to Greenwood for burial, followed by a large number of relatives and friends.

He was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge of Greenwood.

Besides his widow and daughters, he leaves two brothers, Chris, Owen, Charles of Tacoma, Wash., and one sister, Mary Nixon of Seattle, Wash.

There never was a kinder husband and father nor one who will be more greatly missed.
