--------- Kobaskie, Mike J. (1 SEP 1880 – 1 MAY 1926)

Mike John Kobaskie was born Sept. 1, 1880, to Joseph and Josephine Kobaskie, in Germany, and came to this country when about two years of age. The greater part of his life was spent on the farm three miles north of town (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.).

Sept. 23, 1919 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Minnie Hogue, and soon after the farm was disposed of and they moved to a new farm near Frederic, which was their home until failing health necessitated a change of occupation and climate. A year and a half ago the family went to Prentice, Ill., and remained in that vicinity for about a year, last fall returning, and making their home in Fairchild, where Mr. Kobaskie passed away at 3:30 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, May 1, 1926, at the age of 45 years and 8 months. For the past five years he was afflicted with leakage of the heart, and for the last eight months he had been a great sufferer. During his long illness he was a patient sufferer; he was a kind and loving husband and step-father.

The remains were brought to this village by Undertaker Kretschmer and funeral services were held at the Free Methodist Church Tuesday forenoon, and were attended by many relatives and friends. The Humbird camp of Modern Woodmen, of which he was a member for about twenty-five years, acted as escort at the services. Rev. C.F. Klein officiated, and burial was in the Mentor Cemetery.

Deceased is survived by his wife and four step-children, also two sisters: Mrs. Evelyn Sekora of Cavour, S.D., and Mrs. Margaret Pester of Washington, D.C., and numerous other relatives.
