The sudden death of George M. Ferguson, treasurer of the town of Foster (Clark Co., Wis.), and for many years a resident on a farm ten miles north of the village, last Sunday afternoon, was a shock to a large number of friends. Mr. Ferguson had not been feeling well for several days, but his condition was not thought serious. An abscess in his head was the cause of his death. Less than twenty-four hours after his death, his mother-in-law, Mrs. A.C. Martin, succumbed at her home near Fairchild, of pneumonia.

A double funeral was held at the Martin home on Wednesday afternoon, M. Kretschmer being in charge. Rev. Bliss of Augusta preached the sermon, and the services were attended by many sorrowing friends. The remains were taken to Fairchild, and thence to Illinois on the night train, Mr. Ferguson to Winslow for burial, and Mrs. Martin to Lena.

George McClellen Ferguson was born at Winslow, Stephenson Co., Ill., on Feb. 25, 1861. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferguson, came to Illinois from Ohio.

On Dec. 19, 1889, he was united in marriage with Viola M. Martin of McConnells, Ill. They made their home in Illinois until they moved to the farm, northeast of Fairchild, thirty years ago last March. On Dec. 12, 1926, after an illness of only a few days, he passed away, at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 12 days.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and three children, Earl of Woodruff, Mrs. Pearl Kroll of Green Bay, and Mrs. Ruby Plowman of Eau Claire. Also three brothers and four sisters: Levy of Winslow, Ill., Frank, Honolulu, Hawaii, James, Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Elmyra Garman, Hardy, Neb., Mrs. Sarah Backus, Freeport, Ill., Mrs. Julia Car, Pennsylvania, and Mary Ferguson, Lena, Ill., and numerous other relatives and many friends mourn his death.

When a young man, Mr. Ferguson joined the Lutheran Church; he was a man of fine character and has always held the high esteem of all who knew him.
