--------- Maeder, Anna (2 JUL 1874 – 6 FEB 1927)

Anna Strahm was born in Berne, Switzerland, Jul 2, 1874, and died at her home in Houghtonburg, Feb 6, 1927, aged 52 years, 7 months and 4 days.

She grew to womanhood at the place of her birth, in a family of five sisters. In 1893 she was married to John Black, to which union five children were born, John, Freda, Anna, Martha and Alfred. In 1907 they came from Switzerland and settled near Freeport, Ill., where they made their home. Mr. Blank was taken from the family by death in 1907.

In July 1911, she was again married, to Gottlieb Maeder, to which union four children were born, Fred, Rose, Ida and Ernest.

In the fall of 1913, the family moved to the town of Alma, Jackson Co., and located on the Schabel farm, north of Merrillan, where the family has since resided, and have been one of the esteemed neighbors in Houghton burg. Mrs. Maeder has been in very poor health for more than three years following an operation for gall stones. Everything was done to comfort and cheer the sufferer by the family, friends, and neighbors, and the deepest sympathy is extended the family in the loss of a wife, mother and sister.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, the Blank children, John, Alfred and Mrs. Martha Bolling of Milwaukee, Mrs. Anna Hutchmacher and Mrs. Freda Gilette of Freeport, Ill., and the Maeder children, Fred, Rose, Ida and Ernest at home, and one sister, Mrs. Marie Wagner of Los Angeles, Calif. Her only sister has been with her and cared for her during the last few months of her illness.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. C.F. Klein officiating. The body was taken to Freeport, Ill., for interment.
