Carl Chandler, former resident of Clark County, passed away, March 26 at Blanchardville, Wis., funeral services being held there Wednesday.

Mr. Chandler taught in the rural schools of Clark County under the superintendency of George E. Crothers and left Neillsville about 40 years ago. For many years he was editor of the Blanchardville paper and later was engaged in the insurance business. He is survived by his wife, son, Carleton, and daughter, Mrs. Reginald Waldo.

Deceased was about 69 years of age.

Funeral rites were conducted Wednesday, March 22, for Carlton Homer Chandler, 69, of Blanchardville, Rev. E. P. Stone of Neillsville and Rev. Guy Campbell of Granville, Ill., a former pastor of the M. E. Church here, assisting the local pastor at the services.

Mr. Chandler was born February 24, 1870, at Carlton and Mary Chandler at Neillsville. He was graduated from Neillsville High school and attended Ripon College and for a time taught in the schools of Clark County. In the year 1895 he went to Blanchardville and engaged in the insurance business.

He was prominent in the civic interests of his community and in religious of his community and in religious and social circles. The sterling qualities which were so evident in him even as a very young man; grew with the years until he became one of the most valuable and best loves men in the community.

The Blanchardville Blade, in a tribute to the deceased says in part: “Friends, relatives, business and professional men, school children and residents of the entire community gathered Wednesday to attend the late sad rites for this noble man. No grander man in measure of service, kindness and charity ever lived in Blanchardville!”

Deceased is survived by his wife, one daughter, Maybelle, Mrs. Reginald Waldo, of Neenah, Wis., a son, Carlton, of Blanchardville, and one grandchild, Dix Waldo.
