Josephine A Broda, age 76, of Thorp, died at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen, on Monday, November 8, 2004. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2004, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. Fr. Donald Wilger officiated and burial followed in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church, on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Josephine Ann Krzyzanowski was born on October 30, 1928, in Thorp, WI, to Walter, Sr. and Bernice (Wirszla) Krzyzanowski. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Sterling School. As a young woman, Josephine moved to Chicago and was employed at Motorola. She was united in marriage to Thomas Broda on August 24, 1952 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They lived and farmed in the Town of Reseburg their entire married life.

Her husband, Thomas, died on March 25, 1989. Josephine moved to Morgan Plaza in 1990 and resided there until entering Clark County Health Care Center in 1999. She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and it PCCW, and a member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary. Josephine was a wonderful cook and baker. She enjoyed writing letters, playing bingo, and reading. Josephine was very proud of her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to clip newspaper articles they were featured in.

She is survived by her two children: Richard (Cheryl) Broda of Thorp; Kathleen (Dan) Englebert of Rockton, IL; four grandchildren; and one sister, Gertrude Stanula of Thorp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Thomas; five brothers: William, Fred, Johnny, Walter, Jr., and Joe Krzyzanowski; and two sisters: Stella Gabriel and Helen Krzyzanowski.
