News: Unity - Local News (30 Dec. 1904)
Surnames: Haight, James, Ayer, Cutts Source: Marathon County Register Newspaper (Unity, Wis.) Dec 30, 1904 And the Wind Blew One of the worst storms ever experienced in this section started last Monday night and continued all day Tuesday. It is estimated that about fifteen inches of snow fell. A strong north wind piled the snow up in some places to a depth of six feet. Traffic of all kinds was delayed. There were no freights on Tuesday or Wednesday, the passenger trains were from six to ten hours late. Christmas Comes but Once a Year The Quarterly Conference, which was to have been held in Maple Grove on Tuesday has been postponed until Wednesday Jan 11 because of the storm and the lateness of the train. Rev. Frank Haight, the presiding Elder, remained at Colby Tuesday evening and visited with W. J. James. Owen Ayer arrived home from Madison last Saturday and is spending the week with his parents Mr. and Mrs. C. Ayer in the town of Unity. The auction of W. F. Cutts billed for Thursday Dec 29 has been postponed on account of the storm to about the 10th of January. Watch for date on bills and in this paper |
