--------- Kadolph, William Sr. (4 NOV 1861 - 28 AUG 1937)

The Deceased Wm. Kadolph, Sr. was born at Panknin, Pomerania, Germany on the 4th day of November, 1861. In early infancy he was baptized in the name of the Triune God and then later instructed and confirmed in the Ev. Luth. Church.

In 1886 he left his native country and came to the U. S. A. arriving at Hartford, Wis., on the 20th day of May of the same year. On the 8th day of May, 1888, he was married to Miss Bertha Daehn, which union was blessed with five children, of which one son preceded the parents to eternity. On May 15th of this year Mrs. Kadolph preceded the deceased into eternity.

The deceased was a resident of the Township of Loyal of Clark Co., since 1901. The deceased was apparently in a good state of health and last Saturday evening as usual he went to the village of Loyal and in walking home and getting almost home he was struck by a passing car which resulted in sudden death, which is the first auto fatality in Clark Co. for the year 1937. He was picked up and rushed to the doctor but life was gone. To sat the least it was a terrible tragedy, but according to Divine Providence his time had come. The deceased attained the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 17 days.

The deceased now leaves to mourn his departure, four sorrowing children, viz: Max Kadolph, of Hartford; Wm. Kadolph, Jr., of the township of Loyal; John Kadolph of Weyauwega and Mrs. Clara Tetzlaf of Milwaukee; also one sister Mrs. Carl Guske of Milwaukee, sixteen grand children, besides numerous relatives and a host of friends who have our hearts sympathy in their bereavement.

The many floral tributes were carried by eight granddaughters and nieces of the deceased: Misses Evelyn and Marjorie Lechner, and Anita Guske and Mrs. Ed. O’Grosky, Milwaukee: Miss Dolores Kadolph, Weyauwega; Misses Katherine and Alice Kadolph, Marshfield; and Miss Marie Kadolph, Loyal.

Among the many out of town relatives and friends who attended the rites were Jack Kadolph and son Darnell, and daughter, Miss Delores, Weyauwega; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tetzlaff and children, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Guske and son Albert, Mrs. Carl Guske, and son, Walter, and daughter, Miss Anita, and Mrs. Ed. O’Gorsky, Milwaukee. Mrs. William Lyon, Mrs. Tony Muthig, Mr. and Mrs. William Doeling, and Herman Doeling, Clintonville; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Yahr, Granton; Mrs. William Schultz, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. William Wehrman, Greenwood; and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stahnke, and Paul Stibbe, Whittlesey.

Pall bearers were Ed. Wolfe, Geo. Otto, O. J. Smith, Ed. Haslow, August Witt and Wm. Ziebell.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 25th at 1:30 from the home of his son Wm. Kadolph, Jr. Interment was made in the Lutheran Cemetery here, Rev. H. F. Leschensky officiating.
