Anton “Tony” Cesafsky, age 92, of Stanley died on Tuesday, July 13, 2004. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 16, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, WI, with Father Robert Nelson officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Visitation was held on July 16, 2004 from 11 a.m., until 1:00 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI.

Anton “Tony” Cesafsky was born on October 1, 1911 in Le Seuer, MN, the son of John and Martha (Meger) Cesafsky. As a young boy he moved with his family to the rural Thorp area and grew up there and attended area schools. He then went to Chicago, IL and worked at an Electric Fence Company and then International Harvester Co. as a machinist. At this time he was also taking violin lessons from many well known violinists, in hope of becoming a symphony violinist. On August 3, 1935 he was united in marriage to Emily Markowski at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Chicago, IL. They resided in Chicago until 1947 and then moved to the rural Stanley area and farmed until 1970 when they moved into the City of Stanley to retire. During his years of farming and retirement, Tony also spent many hours fixing radios and television sets for anyone that needed repairs. Upon losing his beloved wife, Emily, in 1994, Tony re-acquainted with his childhood sweetheart Katherine Lukaszewski, who has been his constant companion and caregiver for the past nine years.

Tony is survived by his three sons: Len (Betty) of Chippewa Falls, WI; Dr. Allen Cesafsky of Piedmont, CA, and Dale Cesafsky of Blain, MN and one daughter, Deborah (Michael) Driessen of Burnsville, MN; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and his special friend and companion Katherine Lukaszewski of Stanley, WI; two sisters: Elaine (Steve) Klisiewicz of Stanley, WI and Mathilda Broeren of Walnut, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Emily, in 1994, two brothers; Frank and Joe and two sisters: Elizabeth and Frances.

Tony was an avid fisherman, hunter and was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and was a choir member for a number of years. He was also a wonderful storyteller and loved to entertain a crowd with his stories and still loved to play his violin.
